Today marks the day to celebrate AmeriCorps’ one million members.  I am happy and proud to be part of this group, having served over twenty years ago in the National Civilian Community Corps and in the AmeriCorps Members for Neighborhood Safety program.  Talk about adventure!  I met some incredible people during my years in AmeriCorps, discovered new places, helped out in the community and experienced the highs and lows of this uncertain adventure, which resulted in a lot of personal growth and reflection.  It was not always easy, but the mantra was always the same:  “Getting Things Done” to help America.  Yep, I am one of the million members of AmeriCorps and proud of it!
